Three Canadian companies found themselves among prestigious company named to the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio‘s just-announced annual roster of Platinum, Blue Chip, Gold Seal, and SNAP award winners.
The much-anticipated awards, presented by the American publication each year in mid Q4, cover several age categories — infant to tweens and teens.
Quebec’s Wowwee Toys won a deserved Platinum award (one of the organization’s highest honours) for its CHiP Interactive Robot Pet Dog, and Toronto’s Spin Master also picked up Platinum awards for its Quick Cups game and its Zoomer Jester Dino, and Zoomer Kitty Midnight robots. It also won a Gold Seal for its Zoomer Chomplingz Tiger Tail.
However, it was Canada’s Hape International that really cleaned up, this year, taking home multi awards.
Based in Alberta, Hape picked up a total of six platinum awards (in three age classifications) for its High Seas Rocker, Step-and-Stroll Racing Stripes Walker, the Geometrics Modular Doll House, the Space City Quadrilla Marble Run, and the charming Ice Cream Emporium Pretend Set.
Hape’s Dynamo Dominoes game was recognized with a Blue Chip and two Gold Seal awards and its Roly-Poly Ralph Baby Toy also won a Gold Seal. Two models in its popular collection of wooden Knob Puzzles picked up Gold Seals, as well as Special Needs Adaptable Product (SNAP) awards.
