The Fall 2016 edition of Hasbro, Inc.’s Gaming Challenge is calling on game designers from Canada (excluding QC), U.S., U.K., France and Germany to submit their ideas for a new face-to-face, family friendly game.
This most-recent Challenge, which is co-sponsored by crowdfunding website Indiegogo, remains open until October 23. It’s the third time Hasbro has offered independent designers the opportunity to pitch and promote their ideas to a panel of game professionals. (The inaugural Challenge debuted in 2015 and was followed by a Spring 2016 event.)
This year’s panel includes Daymond John, a well-known entrepreneur and one of the stars of the U.S. TV series, Shark Tank. He and a team of Hasbro game experts and designers will evaluate and judge each submission on its game play, theme and viability — eventually selecting five finalists.
Those finalists will receive US$2,000, plus they’ll be invited to launch campaigns for their concept on Indiegogo. In addition, they have access to Hasbro and Indiegogo consultants as they work on raising awareness, funding, and support for their game.
A grand prize winner, which will be announced early next year, will receive US$25,000, a trip to Hasbro’s Rhode Island headquarters and the opportunity to work with Hasbro to bring his or her idea to fruition.
