The Parents’ Choice Foundation released its annual list of Spring 2016 award winners late last month.
Among those suppliers receiving honours from the much-respected U.S. organization were Canadian firms Patrix Communications, Maison Joseph Battat Ltd., and Mega Bloks Inc. — all are based in Quebec.
Designed to help parents and caregivers make informed decisions about which new products are right for their children, the Parents’ Choice Awards program recognizes the best material for kids in several categories ranging from books and toys to television and websites.
The Parents’ Choice Awards testing and review committees look for products that entertain and teach with flair, stimulate imagination and inspire creativity. (There are six award levels.)
This spring’s Canadian award winners included Patrix Communications, which won a prestigious Silver award for its Inuksuk balancing game offering strategy fun for kids 3+.
Meanwhile, Maison Joseph Battat Ltd. won several awards including a Silver for Our Generation Sweet Stop Ice Cream Truck themed playset. It also won Recommended awards for the B. Woo-Hue Parachute, the Lori Roller Glamper Camper playset, the Li’l Woodzeez Honeysuckle airplane-themed playset, and the Terra Playsets, three themed scenarios.
The recognition didn’t stop there. Battat also picked up an Approved award for its Fishing Set, a multi-piece collection of fishing gear, and a Fun Stuff award for the Lori Go Everywhere! Convertible.
Finally, Montreal-based Mega Bloks Inc. won two Recommended awards for its Big Building Bag, an 80-block set for preschoolers, and for its Block Scooping Wagon, a building/sorting set, also for kids 1 to 5 years old.
