The beloved Teletubbies, who made their return debut on TV earlier this spring, will also star in a series of novelty books from Simon & Schuster Children’s Publishing.
Under an agreement with Toronto licensor DHX Media, the well-known publisher will launch the first titles in its planned collection of licensed Teletubbies books in mid 2017. (The release will follow master toy licensee Spin Master’s launch of its Teletubbies toy line in early 2017.)
Although S & S has the rights to develop a variety of formats, the collection will focus primarily on board books, 8x8s, and shaped novelty books for preschoolers, aged one to three.
The original Teletubbies entertained toddlers from 1997 to 2001. And while the refreshed Teletubbies features some slight updates more appropriate for a new generation of tech-savvier kids, the property remains “a nice, gentle, slow show” that parents can embrace, says a spokesman for S & S.
