Elaine Tan Comeau, the creator of the award-winning Easy Daysies educational kits, continues to add to her collection of honours.
The B.C. mother of three and former teacher was recently named Canadian Mompreneur of the Year in recognition of her hard work and skill in promoting her company and its product.
Comeau, who was one of 12 nominated finalists, received the prestigious award, which is handed out annually by Milton, Ontario-based Mompreneur Showcase Group, on March 22. In addition to looking good on her resumé, the award carries a prize of $30,000-worth of marketing and business services.
Comeau launched Easy Daysies Ltd. from her Maple Ridge home in 2009, marketing her product primarily by word of mouth. Four years later, her line of magnetic scheduling kits is a best seller in 2,000 locations, including specialty stores, across Canada and the U.S.A.
The fearless Comeau is especially known for having been one of a handful of contestants who successfully pitched her product and secured financing from the panel of entrepreneurs on CBC’s popular Dragon’s Den.
Since then Comeau has won numerous awards from parenting organizations and play experts, including a 2013 The Teachers’ Choice Award for Families-Educational Toy of the Year, and a 2013 Dr. Toy Best 100 Toys Award. Always ready to share her insights with other entrepreneurs, Comeau’s story has been featured in prominent publications, such as Financial Post, Macleans, Canadian Business, and Huffington Post.
Comeau’s Easy Daysies collection, which now includes eight kits, is distributed in Canada by Monarch Books of Canada.
