California-based Tillywig recently announced its annual summer list of toy and media award winners. Three Canadian firms with a total of five products were included on this year’s list featuring almost 60 items ranging from toys and mobile apps to books, websites and parent/child lifestyle products.
Taking home prestigious awards were Nova Scotia’s The Orb Factory, which won three awards for its Fuzzeez Dog, the PlushCraft Puppy Pack, and the Sew Softies Jumbo Hamster. All are contents-filled craft kits that produce fabulous useable projects with great appeal for kids, aged five and over.
Meanwhile, Toronto-based TCG Toys won a Brain Child award for its Fisher-Price 36 Piece ABC/123 Foam Cube Puzzle, designed for preschoolers, three and over. Finally, Toronto’s award-winning Cate & Levi won a Best Creative Fun award for its Hoo’s The Maker Owl Stuffed Animal Kit.
Established in 2008, Tillywig’s mission, including its much-respected awards program, is to provide retail buyers, news media, parents, and consumers with product information and reviews of superior children’s products available in today’s marketplace.
The organization puts all submitted products through extensive group testing, during which they are scrutinized and evaluated for a variety of criteria, such as ease of first use, replay value, quality/appearance, fun factor, creativity and how it encourages thought processes and motor skills. Testers come from all walks of life and represent a broad range of ages.
