Four Canadian companies are among the mostly U.S. toy suppliers with product now in the running for one of ASTRA’s prestigious Best Toys for Kids awards.
Earlier this week, the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association (ASTRA) released its list of 96 products that will go on in the review and voting process taking place at ASTRA’s annual Marketplace and Academy (June 5-8) in Denver.
Those Canadian firms with product on this year’s short list, include: The Orb Factory for its Fuzeez Husky craft kit; Wooky Entertainment for i-Loom, its fabulous tech-weaving toy; Foxmind Canada for its diabolical Maze Racers game; and Creative Education of Canada for its imaginative T-Rex Hooded Cape.
Specialty store members attending next week’s conference will have a chance to play with and then vote on all of the nominated products that range from pogos to paintball kits. The attendees’ favourites will be tallied with about 20 top picks emerging. Those winners will be announced in late June and then later in the fall promoted to consumers as ASTRA’S holiday-season suggestions.
