Toy fair season is always a busy time for Neighbourhood Toys Stores of Canada — 2012 is proving to be no exception. The organization of independent retailers and suppliers not only launched another successful AGM and Conference on January 28, it also hosted its annual industry gala — considered the must-attend gathering of the year.
Known as the Little Big Bash, this year’s party was a sold-out event held at the Hilton Garden Inn, a Toronto Airport-area hotel. The occasion, which brought together 120-plus members and guests from across the country, was an evening of networking, dinner and dancing.
The 2012 event also included a presentation of two very important NETS awards: Retailer of the Year, and Supplier of the Year. As one of her first duties as incoming NETS’ president, The Rocking Horse’s Dianne Mattice presented the SOTY and ROTY respectively to Toronto’s Playwell Enterprises and to Patti Taggart, owner of Ottawa’s Tag Along Toys. Taggart, who is NETS’ outgoing president, was also recognized for her hard work, enthusiasm and leadership during three successful terms.
